As part of a complete apartment renovation project in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Raul Sanchez architects commissioned Leleni Studio to realise a full kitchen envelope design from reclaimed marble. The client opted for our pink marble, Rosa Aurora, to compliment the decorative mosaic of the original hydraulic floor tiles. As our stock of this material had been saved over 4 decades the variance in tonality and appearance provided too much contrast with the overall aesthetic of the kitchen. To achieve a consistency in material over the 6m2 needed for the design we sourced and salvaged 24 pieces from a renovation of a butchers shop. Each piece was cut, polished and positioned to create a flow of veining that resembles an organic undulating form similar to a rainstorm on the horizon at sunset.

6 m2 of reclaimed Rosa Aurora marble were reused in this project.
